In the heart of July, with the sun casting a warm, golden glow over the picturesque landscapes near Meeker, Colorado, my grand-daughter and I embarked on a quest to capture the perfect snapshot of Highland Coos. Armed with cameras and enthusiasm, we set off into the rolling hills, ready to immortalize these iconic creatures on film.
As we approached a meadow with knee-high grass, we spotted a small herd of Highland Coos and their calves grazing leisurely. Their shaggy coats and impressive horns made them look like walking haystacks with attitude. Excitement bubbled within us, and we readied our cameras, hoping to capture their charm. Little did we know, these coos had other plans.
With the stealth of seasoned wildlife photographers, we attempted to approach the coos, inching our way closer, crouched behind bushes and rocks. Just as we thought we were about to snap the perfect shot, they turned their backs to us! It was as if they had a sixth sense for detecting cameras, a...
I inherited my passion for photography from my father, James L. Digby. My fondest memory of him is that he could take a picture of something as ordinary as a bolt and produce a Fine Art piece you would want hanging on your wall. It was nothing for him to go into the grocery store and re-arrange some vegetables to take an award winning photograph. He taught me the patience to wait out the cloud that just came in and ruined the light that we wanted, or sit on a hilltop waiting for that perfect bolt of lightening.
